FAMILY SURVEY

We at Glenkirk Student Ministries are constantly trying to figure out how best to serve our community and, instead of making assumptions on how to move forward, wanted to get your direct input & feedback. If you could take 10 minutes to complete this survey, know that not only would we greatly appreciate it, but your responses will significantly help us serve the students in our community and share the Gospel we’ve been entrusted with.

SERMON SERIES – “6:8 Church”

Becoming Brave: Finding the Courage to Pursue Racial Justice Now - Kindle edition by McNeil, Brenda Salter, Brown, Austin. Religion & Spirituality Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.NEW SERMON SERIES “6:8 Church” | Begins October 14th
Next month we start our series rooted in Micah 6:8, talking about justice, mercy, and humility; hopefully this book will help you ask good questions and have engaging conversations with your student(s)! If you want to join me in reading Becoming Brave, you can find the book here. If you want to join but can’t afford the expense, please message me at jppuckett@glenkirkchurch.org.

Book of the Month | October
This month, I’m reading Reverend Dr. Brenda Salter McNeil’s newest book, Becoming Brave: Finding Courage to Pursue Racial Justice Now. McNeil has led the Christian Church in pursuing reconciliation efforts for more than 3 decades as a pastor, preacher, speaker, author, professor, and organizer.  As she exegetes the biblical narrative of Esther, McNeil offers a distinctly Christian framework for approaching systemic injustices in our world, but the story of how this book came into being starts with a deeply personal question asked of her by a student: “When are you going to talk about justice?” And “When is the Church going to talk about justice?”

Howl-oween Hunt | October 28th

Gather your clever companions and get ready to roam the town together for Glenkirk’s Drive Thru Halloween Hunt! Teams of 4-8 people are encouraged to register online beforehand. We will begin the hunt at Glenkirk Church where you will be given a team packet full of clues that will take you around town on a scavenger hunt. At each stop, you will complete a task or solve a riddle with your team (and take a photo or video); each challenge will help you collect points to be the winning team! Entry and all activities are free. The evening will conclude back at Glenkirk for an ‘i-SCREAM’ Social where we will announce the winners.

Student Mission Trip

Each year, a group of students head to a select location for a week+ long mission trip. Feeling called and ready to join us on our next trip? Summer mission trips are open to students entering 8th grade – college freshman in the fall. Missionaries must sign up ahead of time and attend preparation meetings and training leading up to the trip. Stay tuned for more information about our next student mission trip! For questions, please contact kfancher@glenkirkchurch.org.

Hi ENGAGE Families,

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2nd town hall meeting last week! If you missed it (for any reason, including a sports game) you can watch the recorded meeting anytime HERE.

RAFFLE – Don’t forget, this month we are giving away a ‘Family Night’ gift package which includes snacks and treats, a gift card for a movie at home, and dinner certificate to a surprise local restaurant! Rules: ONE entry each week per household. You may enter this week and the following week using the link below. One winning family will be randomly drawn and the winner will be announced the last week of this month!

During our town hall meeting, we officially welcomed our 3 new Student Ministry Interns. Isabel (Middle School), Shane (High School), and Breeanne (Young Adults) are excited to be with your students this school year and we are excited to see all of the ways that God will use them in our ministry. Stay tuned for introduction videos of each of our new friends on our Instagram and YouTube!

NEW SERMON SERIES “6:8 Church” | Begins Wednesday!
This Wednesday, we start our series rooted in Micah 6:8, talking about justice, mercy, and humility. The ideas of justice, mercy, and humility often seem to be at odds with one another but according to scripture they are intrinsically linked together. We are living in a time where cries for justice have become divisive while cries for mercy often times go unheard and unanswered. In this series we will attempt to discover how, as the Body of Christ, we can be agents of both God’s justice and God?s mercy in the world and do so with in a way that directs all people to the one who loves and chooses them.
