The season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and continues 40 days until the day before Easter Sunday. Since the second century, Christians have been observing the season of Lent, patterned after the annual Jewish Day of Atonement. Lent is not a time to flaunt our spiritual practices to impress other people or try to earn our way to God. It’s a time for us to be honest and humble before God and before each other, as we admit that there are areas of our lives that still need God’s touch.
