Glenkirk Church to join Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians (ECO)

Glendora, CA, August 15, 2012 – Glenkirk Church, a 1,100-member congregation in Glendora, CA, is leaving the Presbyterian Church (USA) to join a new Presbyterian entity known as the Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians (ECO).

The church’s governing board unanimously approved the proposal. The move is also widely supported by the congregation, as indicated by a 97% vote in favor of the transfer on August 26, 2012.

The church cites the theological indecisiveness of the PC(USA) and the clear biblical basis and vital ministries of ECO as key reasons for its departure. It also notes that several other PC(USA) churches have made decisions to sever ties with the denomination for similar reasons.

Pastor Jim Miller says, "I'm proud of a healthy and strong church that is making thoughtful decisions about its future.  ECO will allow us to continue preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ."

Worship service times are Saturday nights at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 8:15 a.m. (traditional liturgy), 9:45 a.m. and 11:11 a.m.
