This year, our campers changed the lives of kids and families in our community by bringing in some essential items for family life. Each year that we run VBS, our church partners with our local pantry to bring in items to assist families who've fallen on hard times. Our hope is that these items help families as they try to find a way to live their lives in a way that doesn't negatively impact the lives of their children. This year, we brought in the following items:
Preschool, Kindergarten, and 1st grade: Toothbrushes / Toothpaste (standard sizes are preferred)
2nd and 3rd grade: Soap (liquid or bars are fantastic!)
4th and 5th grade: Shampoo (any sized bottle is great!)
At the close of programs on Friday, campers had brought in over 1700 items that will go to the pantry. Our 2nd and 3rd graders brought in the most items as a group. At Friday's closing ceremonies, we announced that our boy campers had brought in more items that the girls.
The Sunday following VBS, (July 18) all children are invited to join us at either our 9:45am or 11:11am service to sing VBS songs for the congregation. Counselors will be in the Children's Wing Courtyard between services signing t-shirts. At the 9:45am service, children meet our VBS team on the church patio and will proceed into church after the first set of songs for the morning. After they have performed their VBS theme song, "Today is the Day", children will be checked into children's ministry programming for the remainder of the service. Children attending the 11:11am service will begin the service alongside their parents in church. After singing and watching a recap video of their week at VBS, children will be released to children's programs. After each service, children must be checked out from their classrooms in the Children's Ministry wing of the church in order to be released.
Kids and parents are invited to this worship event, which will feature VBS music. Experience band-led worship, a family themed message, and games.
